Captain Phillips : first official trailer

May 08, 2013 - 0 comment

The first official trailer for the movie Captain Phillips directed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Trilogy, United 93...)  has just been released. It's bracing, exciting, riveting and it is considered by many as another Oscar contending role for Tom Hanks. You can watch it in our videos by clicking on the thumbnails below.
Update: the trailer is now available in HD.

The movie is based on Richard Phillips's memoir A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea and tells the story of Capt. Richard Phillips, the leader of the cargo ship Maersk Alabama who gave himself up as a hostage to Somali pirates to keep his crew from having to leave the ship with them. After three days alone with the armed pirates in a small lifeboat, Phillips was saved by Navy SEALS who staged a raid that left three captors dead and another in custody.

The script was written by Billy Ray (Hart's War, Flightplan, State of Play…). The movie is produced by the team behind The Social Network, that is to say Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and Kevin Spacey.

The movie will hit threater on October 11, 2013 in the United States and in the United Kingdom.

Tom Hanks has been gathering numerous awards nominations for his portrayal of Mike McAlary and has just been awarded with the 2013 Theatre World Award that recognizes six actors and six actresses for their debut performance in a Broadway or Off-Broadway production. It is not a competition and is it only given once.
The 69th Annual Theatre World Award Ceremony will take place on June 3rd at 6:45 pm at the Music Box Theatre, New York.

Tom Hanks to appear on Letterman

May 08, 2013 - 0 comment

Tom Hanks is listed to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday May 14, 2013. Remember, the show airs at 11:35 PM on CBS. The scheduled appearance has been added to our calendar. Don't miss it!

Tom Hanks will probably discuss his play Lucky Guy, his nomination for a Tony Award and his upcoming movies due to be released at the end of the year, such as Captain Phillips and Saving Mr Banks. Given how entertaining Tom Hanks has been during his previous visits on Letterman, he'll probably have another few fun stories to tell. We'll try to add the interview to our videos as soon as we can after it airs.

For this occasion, we've added Tom Hanks's appearance on Letterman from December 16, 1993 to promote the movie Philadelphia. In this interview, Tom Hanks talks about about his stay at the White House for the screening of the movie. He also discusses musicals on Broadway and "dog movies", such as Beethoven and Turner & Hooch. Tom Hanks's got an advice: "Do not kill the dog!" You can watch (part of) the interview in our videos. It was originally posted on Youtube by sabianqaz. The end is cut off, sorry about that.
