Tom Hanks is promoting his new movie Captain Phillips all over the world and he's currently in London, England where the movie opened the 57th BFI London Film Festival. We'll have more on that in an upcoming update.
While in London, Tom Hanks was a guest on The Jonathan Ross Show and proved he still has some skills when it comes to playing the piano... He was joined by former co-star Sandra Bullock (Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close) to do the piano chopsticks from his 1988 movie Big.
Tom Hanks was also on The Colbert Report last Wednesday, where they showed an exclusive clip from the movie. You can watch and download the interview in our videos.
Captain Phillips : now in theaters !

This is the big day! Captain Phillips is hitting the big screen today in the United States and Canada!
The movie is based on Richard Phillips's memoir A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea. Director Paul Greengrass (Bloody Sunday, United 93...) is at the helm of this picture written by Billy Ray (Hart's War, Flightplan, State of Play…) and produced by the team behind The Social Network, that is to say Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and Kevin Spacey.
Tom Hanks, who's been unanimously acclaimed by the critics for his performance and especially for the last ten minutes of the movie, is joined by four first-time Somali actors. The first time he met them in person was while shooting the hijacking scene in Malta. The movie was mainly shot at sea at the large of Malta, on a real cargo ship, the Maersk Alexander, a exact replica of the Maersk Alabama on which these real events occured back in 2009.
Captain Phillips currently has a 93% rating on RottenTomatoes with over a hundred reviews... According to many of them, it is a serious contender for the upcoming award season and it may well earn Tom Hanks his sixth Oscar nomination.
If you live in the United Kingdom, you've got one more week to wait to see it, as it will be released on October 18!
This is the true story of Capt. Richard Phillips, the leader of the cargo ship Maersk Alabama, who gave himself up as a hostage to Somali pirates to keep his crew from having to leave the ship with them. After three days alone with the armed pirates in a small lifeboat, Phillips was saved by Navy SEALS who staged a raid that left three captors dead and another in custody.
