Tom Hanks to team up with Tom Tykwer again

June 15, 2013 - 0 comment

Tom Hanks is reteaming with one of the Cloud Atlas directors, Tom Tykwer, on a feature adapted from Dave Eggers' novel A Hologram For the King. Tom Tykwer adapted the book and will direct the movie, for which CAA is in the process of securing financing.

Here's the full synopsis of this book released in 2012.

In a rising Saudi Arabian city, far from weary, recession-scarred America, a struggling businessman pursues a last-ditch attempt to stave off foreclosure, pay his daughter’s college tuition, and finally do something great. In A Hologram for the King, Dave Eggers takes us around the world to show how one man fights to hold himself and his splintering family together in the face of the global economy’s gale-force winds. This taut, richly layered, and elegiac novel is a powerful evocation of our contemporary moment — and a moving story of how we got here.

Tom Hanks and his Playtone partner Gary Goetzman will produce with Stefan Arndt, Uwe Schott and Tykwer of X Filme Creative Pool.

We will tell you more about this new project as soon as we get more details.
