March 09, 2011

In 2002, Tom Hanks attended the 74th Academy Awards and presented the Oscar for Best Picture. The nominees were Gosford Park, In the Bedroom, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Moulin Rouge and A Beautiful Mind, which won. You can see the video in our archive. We apologize for the poor quality of the video.

The movie was produced by Tom Hanks's friends and colleagues Brian Grazer and Ron Howard with whom he had worked several times, especially on Splash and Apollo 13. Ron Howard, who had just won the Oscar for Best Director for the same movie starring Russell Crowe, was backstage and had to walk back on stage to accept the Oscar.
