There had been rumors about Tom Hanks's participation to the Wachowski (The Matrix) and Tom Tykwer's next project, Cloud Atlas.
It is now official : Tom Hanks has become officially attached to star in this movie, an adaptation of the David Mitchell novel and the shooting will begin in September 2011.

Halle Berry confirmed her involvement last November and James McAvoy is among the actors who've been rumored to take part. Tom Hanks is thought to be playing Dr. Henry Goose, while Halle Berry will play Meronym, a member of the last remnants of technologically-advanced civilization.

Cloud Atlas consists of six interconnected stories. This novel is an epic story of humankind in which the actions and consequences of our lives impact one another throughout the past, present and future as one soul is shaped from a murderer into a savior and a single act of kindness ripples out for centuries to inspire a revolution.

Warner Bros is set to distribute the film in North America, and Focus Features International has signed on to handle international sales and distribution of the film overseas. They will sell rights at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
