Paul Greengrass to direct Tom Hanks ?

June 03, 2011

In March, we told you that Tom Hanks was going to to play Captain Richard Phillips, the leader of the cargo ship Maersk Alabama, who gave himself up as a hostage to Somali pirates to keep his crew from having to leave the ship with them.
Well, first of all, it seems like the movie is now titled Maersk Alabama, the name of the ship.
But that's not all. Vulture announces that Paul Greengrass is in talks to direct the movie, whose production will start once Tom Hanks becomes available. Probably early next year since Tom Hanks has to film Cloud Atlas first.

Paul Greengrass is known for having directed The Bourne Ultimatum, Green Zone and Bloody Sunday. Some say that Paul Greengrass seems well suited to the role having directed adaptations of tense, real-life events in the past with United 93.
However, nothing is certain yet since he's apparently eyeing two more projects to work on, including Rush, a Formula One drama written by Peter Morgan. Paul Greengrass will have to choose one of these three projects.

Remember that you can find information ont Tom Hanks's upcoming projects as an actor and a producer right here.
