Simply Shakespeare 2011 : photos

June 03, 2011

Each year, event chairs Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are joined by famous actors and celebrities for a performed reading of a Shakespeare play, that benefits the Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles.

On May 9, 2011, they were joined by Reba McEntire, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Martin Short, Christina Applegate, Arte Johnson, Eugene Levy, William Shatner, Tracey Ullman, Eric Idle, Richard Kind, Blake Silver and Kenneth Branagh for the performed reading of The Merry Wives of Windsor.

We've added some photos of the arrivals in the gallery.

You can also watch an Access Hollywood video that includes interviews of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson on their website, as well as a BBC interview of Tom Hanks and Kenneth Branagh.

The evening was directed by Ben Donenberg, founding artistic director of SCLA. All proceeds from the event and the eBay auction support SCLA and its arts-based youth employment programs for inner-city youth, arts education in local schools, and professional union contracted productions that are accessible to all.
