Cloud Atlas & Extremely Loud : infos & release dates

We have new information concerning Tom Hanks's upcoming movies as an actor : Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close starring Sandra Bullock, Thomas Horn, John Goodman and Viola Davis and Cloud Atlas starring Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving and Susan Sarandon.

First of all, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close will have a limited release on Christmas Day in the United States, that is to say December 25, 2011. It will then open wide on January 20, 2012.


As for the international release, so far we know that the release date for movie will be January 19, 2012 for Germany and February 9th for the Netherlands. We can expect a release on January 18th or 25th for France and Belgium but nothing is official yet for those two.

By the way, director Stephen Daldry has been nominated for a best directing Oscar for every feature he’s made... be ready to add this one to the Oscar nominations.

According to news site Sports Chosun, South Korean actress Bae Doona is in talks to join Cloud Atlas, the adaptation of David Mitchell’s novel which will be co-directed by The Wachowskis (The Matrix) and Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run).


The actress is said to be playing a clone who once worked as a server at a futuristic fast-food chain and is now being interviewed before her execution for rebelling against the Totalitarian South Korea she lives in. This is the 5th tale in Mitchell’s 6 tale set-up, Sonmi the lead.

The film will be the most expensive German production of all time, with a budget of $150 million. Filming is expected to take place later this year in Berlin, and Warner Bros. are eyeing an October 2012 release.
