October 25, 2011

After Big Love, Band of Brothers and The Pacific, Tom Hanks and his long-time producing partner at Playtone, Gary Goetzman, are developing a new show for HBO. The half-hour comedy project is titled Players and follows the lives of college athletes.
James Evans and Darryl Scott will serve as producers on the project with Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman attached as executive producers.

We don't have more information yet as to who will direct, write or act in Players but as soon as we do, we'll let you know.

This will be the sixth time that Tom Hanks is working with HBO as he also produced the miniseries From the Earth to the Moon and John Adams for the network.
Other projects produced by Tom Hanks's company, Playtone, are still in development for HBO like Game Change, Lizzie Borden, American Gods and K Blows Top. More information is available on our page dedicated to Tom Hanks's upcoming projects.
