Maersk Alabama : new name & release date

Tom Hanks's upcoming project based on Captain Richard Phillips's memoir about his experience as Somali pirates's hostage just got a release date, and a new title.
Previously entitled after the name of the cargo ship, Maersk Alabama, the movie is now called Captain Phillips. Just know that the title has been changed everywhere on the website.

Sony Pictures also announced that the movie will be released in theaters on March 22, 2013. Captain Phillips currently shares its release date with the DreamWorks Animation movie The Croods featuring the voices of Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, and Nicolas Cage.

 

The shooting will begin in February 2012 in New Orleans and Mobile, Alabama. Billy Ray wrote the screenplay, Paul Greengrass (Green Zone, United 93, The Bourne Ultimatum, Bloody Sunday) will direct and the team behind The Social Network, that includes Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti, and Kevin Spacey, will produce.
