Tom Hanks at the Naval Station Norfolk : photos

June 26, 2012

Tom Hanks has been spending time in the Virginia Beach area lately for the filming of his upcoming movie Captain Phillips, directed by Paul Greengrass. The movie is based on the real-life hijacking of Maersk-Alabama in 2009 and the rescue of the ship and the captain by Navy SEALs.
Yesterday, he spent his day off with a tour of the Naval Station Norfolk and went aboard the submarine USS Montpelier to meet some of the crew members. You can see the pictures in our gallery

WVEC also posted a video featuring reactions from the people working on the base.
