Lucky Guy : Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari reunite

December 13, 2012

Last May, we announced that Tom Hanks would make his Broadway debut in April 2013 in a play written by Nora Ephron called Lucky Guy. No other actor had been hired at the time.

We have some casting news, starting with former Bosom Buddies co-star Peter Scolari, who has been added to the cast of the George C. Wolfe-directed production.

Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari are well known for their collaboration in Bosom Buddies, the very first TV show Tom Hanks starred in. Since then, they have worked on seven projects together, including That Thing You Do!, From the Earth to the Moon and The Polar Express, as you can see in our Collaborations section.

Tom Hanks will play tabloid columnist Mike McAlary, who investigates the scandal and corruption of graffiti-ridden New York in the 1980s. Peter Scolari will star as columnist Michael Daly, and will be joined by Christopher McDonald as lawyer Eddie Hayes and Peter Gerety as editor John Cotter.

The cast will also include Michael Gaston as Jim Dwyer, Dustyn Gulledge as Dino Tortoricci, Deirdre Lovejoy as Louise Imerman/Debbie Krenek, Danny Mastrogiorgio as Bob Drury, Richard Masur as Jerry Nachman/Stanley Joyce and Stephen Tyrone Williams as Abner Louima. Additional casting will be announced soon.

Lucky Guy will feature scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, sound design by Scott Lehrer and lighting design by Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer.

Lucky Guy opens at the Broadhurst Theatre on April 1, 2013.
