Parkland : Zac Efron and Paul Giamatti join the cast

December 30, 2012

Back in August, we told you that Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman's new project was an adaptation into a movie of Vincent Bugliosi's Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Part of the casting for this new project, entitled Parkland, has been announced. Indeed, Zac Efron (The Paperboy, High School Musical) has signed on to join the film and will portray Dr. Charles ‘Jim’ Carrico, one of the general surgery residents at the hospital where President Kennedy was brought in from his gunshot wound to the head.

He will be joining a pretty fantastic cast that includes Paul Giamatti (John Adams), Billy Bob Thornton (Armageddon, Eagle Eye) and Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom). Shooting is set to take place in Austin, TX in January and February of 2013.

Tom Hanks and the studio are hoping to get this film out to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy which took place on November 22, 1963.
