Tom Hanks nominated for his portrayal of Mike McAlary

Tom Hanks's performance as Mike McAlary in Lucky Guy seems not only to get a lot of glowing reviews, but to be an award-worthy performance. Indeed, Tom Hanks and co-star Courtney B. Vance have both been nominated for the New York Drama League's prestigious Distinguished Performance award. There are 60 nominees in this category including Alec Baldwin, Alan Cumming, Jake Gyllenhaal, Scarlett Johansson and Holland Taylor.
The play Lucky Guy is nominated in the category Outstanding Production of a Broadway or Off-Broadway Play along with The Whale, The Nance, The Assembled Parties, Old Hats, The Testament of Mary, I'll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.
Winners will be announced at the 79th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony, which will be held at the Marriott Marquis Times Square on Friday May 17, 2013 at noon.
The Outer Critics Circle has also nominated Tom Hanks in the category Outstanding Actor in a Play, along with Shuler Hensley (The Whale), Nathan Lane (The Nance), Tracy Letts (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) and David Hyde Pierce (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike).
Lucky Guy is nominated in Outstanding New Broadway Play, with Grace, The Nance, The Testament of Mary and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.
The Outer Critics Circle Awards will be handed out May 23rd at Sardi’s.
