The movie is based on Richard Phillips's memoir A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea and tells the story of Capt. The script was written by Billy Ray (Hart's War, Flightplan, State of Play…). The movie is produced by the team behind The Social Network, that is to say Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and Kevin Spacey.

The movie will hit threater on October 11, 2013 in the United States and in the United Kingdom.
