Rita wilson honored & Broadway musicals !

Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson attended the 7th Geffen Playhouse's annual Backstage at the Geffen Gala which recognizes leadership in the theater community and raises funds for the Geffen Playhouse education programs. Rita Wilson was honored with the Distinction in Theater Award, presented by Martin Short. You can find some photos in the gallery.
"I'm Mr. Rita Wilson!" bellowed Tom Hanks, joking as photographers asked to snap his picture. "We don't hide our love under a bushel !"
Years ago, the 1988 comedy Big had already been adapted to the stage. This tme, two other Tom Hanks's movies are now being adapted as Broadway musicals :
Catch Me If You Can, with music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman and a book by Terrence McNally is based on the 2002 film directed by Steven Spielberg.
The musical is scheduled to premiere at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in Seattle July 23rd, with Jack O'Brien serving as director, and Jerry Mitchell choreographing.
Sleepless in Seattle - The Musical is based on the 1993 romantic comedy directed by Nora Ephron. Composer and lyricist Leslie Bricusse is part of the creative team along with Joel Zwick, who directed the 2002 breakout hit movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding (produced by Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson).
The producers are aiming for a first reading in May 2009 and an official opening in early 2010.
Also note that The Da Vinci Code will be released by Sony in Blue Ray on April 28th. The special features will include a five-minute scene from Angels & Demons with an introduction by Howard that is exclusive to the Blu-ray. You'll also find :
