TCA Awards & new project for HBO

August 01, 2010

The 26th Annual Television Critics Association Awards took place yesterday evening and The Pacific won as 'Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries and Specials'. Tom Hanks accepted the award as executive producer of the miniseries. We've added some photos in the gallery.

We've added to our video archives an interview about The Bonfire of the Vanities made by Jim Ferguson.

Tom Hanks keeps creating new historical projects as a producer since it's been announced that he'll produce, with his company Playtone, a telepic entitled K Blows Top for HBO. Paul Giamatti, who had played John Adams in the miniseries of the same name, will play Soviet Leader Nikita Khrushchev. The film is an adaptation of Peter Carlson’s book K Blows Top: A Cold War Comic Interlude Starring Nikita Khrushchev, America's Most Unlikely Tourist, which documents Khrushchev’s 13-day tour of the U.S. during the 1959 heights of the Cold War.

Paul Bernbaum is set to pen the script, while Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are executive producers with Perri Kipperman and David Stern serving as co-exec producers.
